Prof. Wang Longde is specialized in health management and disease control. He was born in Lanzhou, Gansu Province and is a native of Kaifeng, Henan Province. He graduated from the Medical Treatment Department of Lanzhou Medical College in 1969 and obtained a master's degree from the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences in 1982.
He is now the Standing Committee of the 11th National People's Congress, the President of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association, Dean of the School of Public Health, Peking University and the Dean of the School of Public Health, Zhejiang University.
As the Former Vice-minister of the Ministry of Health, Prof. Wang has been engaged in administration, epidemiology and public health advancement in the field of public health. In 2005, he received second award of the “National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology” from the State Council for the series of books he published on health promotion within communities. In 2007, he was awarded by UNAIDS for his continuous effort in the field of AIDS control and tuberculosis control in China. In the same year, he was awarded “Stop TB Partnership-Kochon Prize” by the World Health Organization.
